SM480 HollySys Input Module Controller, the architecture of the SM series hardware system is shown in Figure 1, mainly consisting of an engineering station, operator station, main control cage, I/O cage, terminal modules, and communication networks.
The intelligent I/O units of the M series hardware system are composed of I/O modules placed inside the main control cage and expansion cages, along with corresponding terminal modules. The I/O modules and corresponding terminal modules are connected via pre-made cables (DB25) to complete the collection, processing, and driving of field data,
achieving the digitization of field data. Each I/O unit establishes communication with the main control unit via the ProfiBus-DP fieldbus. Both the main control module and I/O modules support hot-swapping functionality. The communication network system network (SNET) is a real-time communication network connecting nodes such as the engineering station/operator station and the main control unit, used for bidirectional data transmission between the engineering station/operator
station and the main control unit. It adopts an industrial Ethernet redundant configuration, enabling the rapid construction of a high-speed redundant secure network with star, ring, or bus topology
structures, compliant with IEEE802.3 and IEEE802.3u standards, based on the IP communication protocol, with a communication rate
of 10/100Mbps adaptive, and transmission media using Category 5 non-twisted pair cables with RJ45 connectors.
The I/O response time of a PLC includes input circuit delay, output circuit delay, and time delay caused by the scanning operation mode (generally within 2 to 3 scan cycles). For systems controlled by switching signals, the PLC and I/O response time generally meet the requirements of practical engineering, and the I/O response issue may not need to be considered. However, for systems controlled by analog signals, especially closed-loop systems, this issue must be considered. Selection is based on the characteristics of the output load.
