Xenon, atomic number 54, atomic weight 131.29, is a noble gas. It was discovered in 1898 by British chemists Ramsay and Travers during the fractional distillation of liquid air. Xenon is extremely rare in the Earth's crust and is primarily sourced from air. There are nine stable isotopes of xenon: xenon-124, 126, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 134, and 136, none of which are radioactive.
