Standard Introduction: This standard describes the test methods for the flammability of bed covers and pillows under smoldering and burning conditions with ignition sources of varying severity.

The standard is divided into three tests:

Test 1: Pillows and European-style quilts

Sample preparation: Pillows should be full-size items;

European-style quilt samples should have a minimum size of 650mm × 650mm

Test procedure: a. Smoldering cigarette test—Ignition source 0

b. Butane flame test—Ignition sources 1 to 3

c. Wood crib test—Ignition sources 4 to 7

Test 2: Individual bed covers (including mattress covers and duvet covers, bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets, bedspreads, and European-style duvet covers)

Sample preparation: For cigarette ignition sources, the minimum size is 450mm × 1350mm, allowing for folding three times;

For burning ignition sources 1 to 7, the minimum size should be 650mm × 650mm

Test procedure: Same as Test 1

Test 3: Composite testing of known bed covers and pillows

Sample preparation: Specimens should be rectangular with a minimum size of 650mm × 650mm

Test procedure: Same as Test 1
