【SEBS】

SEBS is the hydrogenated product of the thermoplastic elastomer SBS, often referred to as hydrogenated SBS. Due to its high content of 1,2-structure, after hydrogenation, its composition becomes polystyrene (S)—polyethylene (E)—polybutene-1 (B)—polystyrene (S), hence abbreviated as SEBS.

Since the carbon-carbon double bonds in the butadiene segment of SEBS are hydrogenated and saturated, it exhibits excellent weather resistance, heat resistance, compression set resistance, and outstanding mechanical properties:

⑴ Good temperature resistance, with a brittleness temperature ≤ -60°C, service temperature up to 149°C, and decomposition temperature exceeding 270°C in an oxygen atmosphere.

⑵ Excellent aging resistance, with less than 10% performance degradation after one week in an artificial accelerated aging chamber, and less than 10% performance degradation after 100 hours of ozone aging (38°C).

⑶ Superior electrical properties, with a dielectric constant of 1.3×10?? at 1 kHz and 2.3×10?? at 1 MHz; volume resistivity is 9×101? Ω/cm at 1 minute and 2×101? Ω/cm at 2 minutes.

⑷ Good solubility, blending performance, and excellent oil absorption capacity. It is soluble in many common solvents, with a solubility parameter between 7.2 and 9.6. It can be blended with various polymers and oil-extended with oils commonly used in the rubber industry, such as white oil or naphthenic oil.

⑸ An elastomer that can be used without vulcanization, with processing performance similar to SBS. Scrap can be reused, meeting environmental requirements, non-toxic, and compliant with US FDA standards.
