Boiler water softening equipment is a pretreatment device designed to remove hardness from raw water to prevent scaling in boilers. It eliminates calcium and magnesium ions from the raw water, preventing scale formation inside the boiler, improving heat exchange efficiency, and ensuring safe and stable boiler operation.

The exchanger contains a certain height of sodium ion exchange resin as the exchange medium. When raw water enters the exchanger from the bottom upward through the exchange medium layer, sodium ions on the exchange medium replace calcium and magnesium ions in the raw water, softening the water. Reaction formula:

Ca2+ +2NaR →CaR2 + 2Na+

Mg2+ +2NaR →MgR2 + 2Na+

Over time, sodium ions on the exchange medium are gradually replaced by calcium and magnesium ions. When the hardness of the effluent reaches a specified level, operation stops for regeneration. During regeneration, a 5-10% saline solution is passed downward through the exchange medium layer. Sodium ions in the saline solution replace the calcium and magnesium ions on the exchange medium, regenerating it and restoring its exchange capacity. Reaction formula:

CaR2 + 2Na+→ 2NaR + Ca2+

MgR2 + 2Na+→ 2NaR + Mg2+
