Silicon carbide is extremely hard and is widely used as an abrasive and grinding agent for hard materials such as machinery and hard ceramics. It is used in the production of other silicides, as well as in wear-resistant components like bearings, nozzles, grinding wheels, and engine parts. It serves as an abrasive enhancer in composite materials and has extensive applications in aerospace, aviation, nuclear energy, and other fields. Additionally, silicon carbide is a special welding material and refractory material. The natural bulk density of silicon carbide abrasives ranges from 1.2 to 1.6 g/mm3, with a specific gravity of 3.20–3.25. Green silicon carbide is primarily produced from petroleum coke and silica, with the addition of salt as a raw material. Domestically produced reaction-sintered silicon carbide desulfurization and dust removal nozzles are gradually replacing imported products, offering high strength, high hardness, resistance to strong corrosion, severe wear, and high temperatures, with an ultra-long service life under harsh conditions.
