1. Certification Introduction

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification in Japan, used to demonstrate that electrical and electronic products have passed safety standard tests in accordance with the Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAN Law) or international IEC standards. Japan's DENTORL Law (Electrical Appliance and Material Control Law) stipulates that 506 types of products must undergo safety certification before entering the Japanese market. Among these, 165 types of Category A products must obtain the diamond-shaped PSE mark, while 341 types of Category B products must obtain the circular PSE mark.

2. Certification Classification

According to Japan's "Electrical Appliance Safety Law," PSE certification is divided into two categories:

Diamond-shaped PSE Certification: This includes 165 types of products that are more likely to cause accidents such as electric shocks or fires, classified as "Specified Electrical Products—referred to as Category A Electrical Products," such as chargers and adapters.

Circular PSE Certification: The remaining 341 types of products, which pose relatively lower risks, are classified as "Non-Specified Electrical Products—referred to as Category B Electrical Products," including most large and small household appliances, lighting products, lithium batteries, etc.

3. Applicable Product Scope

Scope of Category A Diamond-shaped PSE Mark Products:

Electric wires and cables, fuses, wiring devices (electrical accessories, lighting appliances, etc.), current limiters, transformers, ballasts, electric heating appliances, electric power application machinery (household appliances), electronic application machinery (high-frequency hair removers), other AC electrical machinery (electric insect killers, DC power supply devices), portable engines, etc.

Scope of Category B Circular PSE Mark Products:

Electric wires, fuses, wiring devices, transformers, small AC motors, electric heating appliances, electric power application machinery, electronic application machinery, other AC electrical machinery, light source application machinery, portable generators, current limiters, lithium-ion batteries, etc.
