Overview
*The Surface Rockwell Hardness Tester is a type of Rockwell hardness tester that uses smaller test forces. It is used for testing fine, small, and thin specimens that cannot be tested by standard Rockwell hardness testers, workpieces with surface-hardened layers, and workpieces requiring minimal indentation. It can be used for batch product inspection, replacing small-load Vickers hardness testers.
*Testing range includes low-hardness pure aluminum, lead, tin, gold, silver; medium-hardness aluminum alloys, copper, copper alloys, stainless steel, cold-rolled steel plate, tinplate; and high-hardness thin hard steel sheets, carburized and nitrided steel, surface-hardened steel, etc.
* There are three models of the instrument, with maximum specimen sizes of 25mm, 50mm, and 100mm, respectively.
* Due to the very small indentation, it has no impact on the use of most workpieces and can be used as a non-destructive testing method to directly test workpieces.
*The measured Surface Rockwell hardness values can be converted into commonly used Rockwell (HRB, HRC), Brinell (HB), Vickers (HV) hardness values, or tensile strength (σb) values through conversion tables.

Instrument Selection
The model numbers of the PHR series hardness testers are determined based on the instrument's maximum opening size and the classification of Rockwell/Surface Rockwell hardness testers. The number following "PHR-" indicates the opening size (in inches), the letter "S" indicates a Surface Rockwell hardness tester, and the letters "ST" indicate a Tube Surface Rockwell hardness tester. Users can select the appropriate instrument model based on the size of the test specimen.
