Ethylene-Acrylic Acid Copolymer (EAA)

Ethylene-Acrylic Acid Copolymer (EAA) is a thermoplastic material with excellent adhesion properties. When the melt index (MI) is the same, an increase in acrylic acid (AA) content improves transparency, toughness, adhesion, and environmental stress crack resistance, while rigidity, vapor transmission rate, and chemical resistance are enhanced. When the AA content is constant, a higher MI results in better adhesion and processability. It is widely used in packaging, powder coatings, adhesives, hot melt adhesives, sealing materials, aqueous solvents, and environmentally friendly degradable materials.

Product Characteristics

1. Excellent adhesion: EAA can bond with materials such as metals (e.g., aluminum and tin) and their oxides, glass, cellulose, wood, leather, cellophane, protein, nylon, polyurethane, polyethylene, and EPDM rubber;

2. Wide application range: No thermal decomposition or bubbling issues; recommended operating temperature is between 120-160°C;

3. Easy processability: High fluidity, ultra-low melting point, reduced usage, and lower costs.

Application Areas

1. Powder coatings: Can be processed into powder and sprayed onto surfaces such as pipes (as shown in Figure 3), steel, and non-woven fabrics for anti-corrosion or adhesion purposes;

2. Hot melt adhesives: Suitable for hard-to-bond materials and as an intermediate adhesive layer in high-end clothing collars;

3. Aqueous solvents: Dissolves in hot alkaline solutions under appropriate conditions to prepare water-based adhesives for textiles and apparel;

4. Eco-friendly degradable materials: EAA can be blended with starch-based materials to produce degradable plastics.
