The spherical steam separator primarily operates on the principle of cyclone separation. When steam enters the swirl tube through the inlet pipe, the airflow transitions from linear to circular motion. The majority of the rotating airflow spirals downward along the cylinder wall toward the cone, known as the outer vortex.

Working principle of the YJQS steam separator in compressed air pipelines:
