Specification for resistance to ignition of upholstered furniture for non-domestic seating by testing composites

1. This testing standard mainly includes the following parts:

BS1021-1:2006 Assessment of the ignitability of upholstered furniture Ignition source: smoldering cigarette

BS1021-2:2006 Assessment of the ignitability of upholstered furniture Ignition source: match-flame equivalent

BS5852:2006 Methods of test for assessment of the ignitability of upholstered seating by smoldering and flaming ignition sources

2. Filling materials must first meet the testing requirements of the UK Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988; fabrics need to undergo a washing procedure before combustion testing (Ref. BS 1021 or BS 5651).

3. This testing standard includes four hazard levels: low, medium, high, and very high hazard, with different hazard tests selected based on the product's intended use.
