They are primarily used for detecting cathodic protection parameters and are essential devices in pipeline management and maintenance, deployed along the pipeline according to testing functions. Test stations can be used to measure pipeline potential, current, and insulation performance, as well as for coating leak detection and testing for AC/DC interference.

Test stations are used for detecting cathodic protection parameters and are critical devices in pipeline management and maintenance. They are employed for measuring cathodic protection potential, current, and insulation performance, as well as for coating leak detection and testing for AC/DC interference.

Classification of Test Stations:　
1. By material: Steel test stations, cement test stations, plastic test stations. Steel test stations are further divided into carbon steel test stations and stainless steel test stations.

III. Significance of Test Stations in Cathodic Protection
To measure the potential, current, and resistance of structures, cathodic protection test stations must be installed. There are no better alternative measuring devices available for this purpose. For pipeline potential test stations, one station every 1–2 km is sufficient, and generally, for every five potential test stations, one pipeline current measurement station should be installed. In densely built urban areas, the spacing for potential measurement stations is approximately half a kilometer. Conversely, above-ground electrical insulation measurement stations are required at buried electrical insulation points. Measurement stations should also be installed at crossing points with DC traction systems. If necessary (e.g., on high-resistance fixed surfaces), fixed measurement points for structure potential should be established.
IV. Post-Installation Maintenance of Test Stations
1) Check the insulation condition between the terminal and the ground; the resistance value should be greater than 100 kΩ. Measure with a multimeter. If the value is lower, inspect whether the terminal is grounded with the outer steel pipe. If so, replace or repair it.
2) Test stations should be painted and renumbered annually.
3) Prevent damage or loss of test stations. Conduct educational campaigns for residents and children along the pipeline to promote the protection of national property.
