Typically, D and S type anodes are mainly used in soil environments, strip anodes are primarily applied in high-resistivity soils, freshwater, and confined local spaces, serving as engineering anodes; rod-shaped anodes are commonly used for corrosion protection in electric water heaters and boilers.

Magnesium anodes are specialized anti-corrosion materials for cathodic protection engineering. They possess high electrochemical performance, consume uniformly, have a long service life, and generate substantial current output, making them suitable for the cathodic protection of metal structures in soil and freshwater environments. During the cathodic protection process, magnesium anodes deplete evenly, resulting in an extended service life. In practical applications, magnesium anodes provide more effective structural protection. In soils with resistivity greater than 8,000 ohm-meters, the use of magnesium anodes is recommended.

1. First, remove a section of the pipeline's anti-corrosion coating to create a rectangular opening matching the size of the thermite welding mold.

2. Place the cable from the magnesium anode package into the notch at the bottom of the thermite welding mold. Position the mold on the pipeline, open the mold cover to expose the cable, and place a small iron piece with its bowl shape facing upward at the bottom of the mold.

3. Welding involves large and small packets. First, pour the large packet of thermite mixture, then evenly spread the small ignition powder on top, also sprinkling some around the ignition port of the mold. Close the mold cover.

4. Ignite at the mold port (wear gloves during ignition, avoid looking directly at the ignition port, and use pliers to press down the mold cover). The ignition is instantaneous, welding the cable and pipeline into a solid copper nugget, ensuring a very strong bond.

5. Then, use a repair stick to fill and level the damaged area.

The construction requirements for magnesium alloy sacrificial anodes primarily involve the burial specifications: prepare backfill material, mix it in proportion and uniformly, and pack it into a cotton bag measuring 30 cm in diameter and one meter long. Clean the anode surface as required, then insert it into the center of the prepared backfill material and compact it. Secure the outer layer of the backfill material firmly, place it horizontally or vertically at the same depth, and position it 2 to 3 meters from the protected pipeline.
