II. Performance
Plurasafe? WS 5100 lubricant base is a water-soluble (WS), mono-alcohol-initiated mixed copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide with low toxicity. The water-based formulation of Plurasafe? WS 5100 exhibits low surface tension and foaming properties, along with excellent wetting characteristics. As an anhydrous formulation base, it provides superior lubricity and good compatibility with traditional lubricant additives, helping formulators develop products that meet the higher performance standards required by modern industry.
III. Applications
Plurasafe? WS 5100 can be used in anti-wear lubricants, hydraulic fluids, compressor lubricants, high-temperature lubricants, paper mill and cardboard lubricants, and rubber lubricants.
Plurasafe? WS 5100 is non-corrosive, has a low pour point, and offers excellent film strength and load-carrying capacity. Unlike mineral oils and other synthetic lubricants, Plurasafe? WS 5100 does not form sludge, varnish, gums, or other types of carbon deposits due to decomposition at high temperatures. Additionally, the solubility of gases such as ethylene, hydrogen, methane, and other petrochemical-based gases in Plurasafe? WS 5100 is significantly lower than in polyolefins and petroleum lubricants. In gas compressor applications, higher gas solubility in the lubricant leads to faster viscosity reduction. Formulations based on Plurasafe? WS 5100 better maintain lubricant viscosity, resulting in improved lubrication and longer compressor life.
Beyond the above applications, the unique properties of Plurasafe? WS 5100 make it suitable for enhancing lubricant formulations in many areas, including metalworking fluids, two-stroke engine lubricants, spindle and release lubricants – brake fluids, lubricating and bearing oils, and more.
Plurasafe? WS 5100 is soluble in cold water and separates from aqueous solutions at high temperatures (inverse solubility). This property can be used to transfer lubricity aids to hot metal surfaces or cutting edges, resulting in better cooling, reduced tool wear, and improved surface finish.
