Introduction to Hastelloy B3 Material

What is Hastelloy B3: Hastelloy B3 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy that shares the same excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid and other strong reducing chemicals as Hastelloy B2, but with significantly better thermal stability, workability, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Hastelloy B3 is primarily used for corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing environments (such as HCl). However, it is not recommended for use in the presence of iron or copper salts, as these salts can cause premature failure.

Hastelloy B-3 Chemical Composition:

Hastelloy B3 is highly suitable for equipment handling hydrochloric acid at various concentrations and temperatures. It resists hydrogen chloride gas, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, and phosphoric acid. Its main high-temperature applications are in situations requiring a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

Available in various specifications including plates, bars, strips, wires, discs, ring blanks, and ring forgings. Bars are supplied in hot-worked, surface ground, or turned conditions; discs and ring blanks are supplied in forged condition; rings are supplied in solution-annealed condition; plates are supplied after solution annealing, alkaline pickling, straightening, and edge trimming; strips are delivered cold-rolled, solution-annealed, and descaled; wires are supplied as solution-annealed and pickled in coil or straight lengths, or as solution-annealed straight lengths with fine grinding.
