Introduction to Hastelloy B2 Material

Hastelloy B2 is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-molybdenum alloy with significant tolerance to reducing environments such as hydrogen chloride gas, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, and phosphoric acid. Molybdenum is the primary alloying element, providing substantial corrosion resistance in reducing environments. This nickel-steel alloy can be used in the as-welded condition because it prevents the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone.

This nickel alloy exhibits excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. Additionally, Hastelloy B2 has outstanding resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and knife-line and heat-affected zone attack. Alloy B2 can tolerate pure sulfuric acid and various non-oxidizing acids.

Chemical Composition of Hastelloy B2:

Available in various specifications including plates, bars, strips, wires, discs, ring blanks, and ring forgings. Bars are supplied in forged-rolled condition, surface polished or turned; discs and ring blanks are supplied in forged condition; rings are supplied in solution-treated condition; plates are supplied after solution treatment, alkali pickling, straightening, and edge trimming; strips are delivered cold-rolled, solution-treated, and descaled; wires are delivered in solution-pickled coil or straight lengths, or solution-treated straight lengths with fine polishing.
