What precautions should be taken when welding MPP pipes?

1. The misalignment of the pipe ends at the welding surface should not exceed 10% of the pipe wall thickness.

2. When the temperature is low, the heating temperature should be appropriately increased, and the heat absorption time should be extended.

3. The heating pressure should be controlled in stages: apply slightly higher pressure during heating and lower pressure during heat absorption.

4. When the ambient temperature is below -5°C or in windy conditions, insulation and protective measures should be taken. Otherwise, the welding quality will be severely affected.

5. Pipe welding should not be performed in rainy weather.

6. The weld should be allowed to cool naturally. Forced cooling will affect the welding quality of the pipe.

7. The surface of the heating plate and the pipe ends should be regularly cleaned with alcohol to ensure they are free of oil, water, and impurities. The anti-stick layer on the heating plate surface should not be damaged. Before welding, use clean cotton gauze or a cloth to wipe off water, impurities, and dirt from the pipe ends. Keep the pipe ends clean for welding.

8. If there is moisture on the pipe ends to be welded, use the heating plate to bake the ends until the moisture completely evaporates before heating the pipe.

9. When cleaning the pipe ends, supervision is required to prevent hand injuries during pipe alignment.

10. When the pipe wall thickness is below 6mm, hot melt butt welding is generally not recommended, as it may be difficult to ensure welding quality.

11. Operators should be trained before performing welding tasks.
