Using polyurethane dust curtains to reduce coal dust at the mining face. Mining operations are a production process in mines with high dust generation, especially in recent years with the application of top-coal caving technology, which has further increased coal dust production during mining operations. How to reduce the concentration of coal dust at the mining face is a dust prevention task that countries worldwide highly prioritize. We have employed dust curtains in the material transport roadway of the mining face, effectively reducing the coal dust concentration in the return airway of the mining face.

Some users of belt conveyors, in order to save costs, use belts or rubber plates instead of dust curtains for sealing at the chute. They cut rubber conveyor belts or rubber plates into strips at equal intervals. The drawbacks of this method are that the rubber belts or plates are too hard, too wide, have large gaps, are heavy, cannot closely contact the material on the conveyor belt, fail to achieve ideal dust prevention effects, are inconvenient to install and dismantle, and perform poorly in practical use.

The chute dust curtain is a dust prevention device for chutes, belonging to the field of dust prevention technology. The dust curtain consists of multiple parallel rubber strips fixed into a single unit by a top mounting bracket, typically in a multi-layer structure. It is fixed above the chute, with the lower part naturally hanging inside the chute, forming multi-stage dust removal and avoiding the poor dust prevention effect of traditional rubber strips. The dust curtain can also be made of polyurethane material, which offers better wear resistance, extends service life, and reduces production costs.

The dust curtain has the following effects:

1. Blocking and filtering effect: Because the dust curtain is suspended in the roadway, the carried coal dust is blocked and captured by the curtain when passing through, thereby reducing the coal dust concentration.

2. Moistening and washing effect: Because a purification spray device is installed in front of the dust curtain, the coal dust captured by the curtain is moistened by the water droplets from the spray and washed down to the roadway floor, turning into non-floating accumulated coal dust.
