Innovative Working Mechanism

The Ice Monitoring Elf device is installed at suitable locations on transmission lines to conduct real-time image monitoring of the site. The images undergo noise reduction through neighborhood mean filtering, image segmentation with adaptive thresholds, edge contour detection of transmission lines based on the LoG operator, and differential extraction of boundary contour coordinates with and without icing to calculate ice thickness. The data is digitally compressed and transmitted to the monitoring center via the GPRS/GSM communication network.
