【Chlorine Removal Principle of Tengxiang Calcium Sulfite】
The main components in tap water are ClO? and chlorine gas. The reaction involves ClO? + calcium sulfite or chlorine gas + water + calcium sulfite, leading to a redox reaction. ClO? loses oxygen ions, and tetravalent sulfur ions are oxidized to hexavalent S ions, forming calcium sulfate and Cl? ions. Calcium sulfate is slightly soluble in water under weakly acidic conditions, making it harmless to humans.
