Wire Rope Clips (Usage Requirements and Precautions for Wire Rope Clips)

1. Wire rope clips, also known as rope clamps, cable clamps, clips, or fasteners, are, as the name suggests, fixtures used to secure wire ropes.

2. Selection Requirements for Matching Clips with Wire Ropes

When the wire rope diameter d < 36mm, the inner diameter of the clip should be 0–2mm larger than the wire rope diameter. When the wire rope diameter d ≥ 36mm, the inner diameter of the clip should be 0–4mm larger than the wire rope diameter. If the clip is too large, it may not clamp the rope securely.

3. Arrangement and Spacing Requirements for Clips

Clips should not be arranged alternately on the wire rope. Instead, the longer rope should press against the shorter rope, meaning the longer rope should be placed on the side of the pressure plate. The distance A between clips should be equal to 6–7 times the diameter of the wire rope.

Wire ropes of different diameters require a corresponding number of clips.

5. Tightening Requirements for Clips

When tightening the clips, the wire rope should be tensioned so that the longer and shorter sections are pressed tightly together. The first clip should be placed as close as possible to the thimble. Tightening should start from the clip nearest to the thimble and continue until the wire rope is flattened by about one-third, without damaging the outer wires of the rope. After one or two load applications, the nuts should be further tightened and rechecked.
