Casting release agent is a reagent used to reduce the friction during mold release, primarily composed of functional additives, solvents, etc., and is widely used in casting production. When releasing the mold after the sand mold (core) has hardened, brushing the casting release agent on the mold surface can effectively reduce friction during release, ensuring the quality of the mold and core.

Classification and Functions of Casting Release Agents Casting release agents can be categorized based on their composition and application: Water-soluble release agents: Typically composed of water and specific surfactants, suitable for low-temperature casting and short-cycle production, easy to clean, environmentally friendly, and capable of improving the surface finish of castings, but with relatively poor heat resistance. Solvent-based release agents: Mainly composed of organic solvents and additives, suitable for high-temperature casting, offering lubricity and heat resistance, but ventilation and safety precautions are necessary during use. Solid release agents: Usually in the form of wax, grease, or other solid materials, suitable for heavy-duty casting environments, with good high-temperature resistance. Powder release agents: Composed of metal oxides, carbides, or other inorganic powders, suitable for heavy casting and high-temperature casting processes, offering excellent high-temperature resistance and chemical stability.

Usage Methods and Effects of Casting Release Agents The application methods of casting release agents include brushing, spraying, or directly melting onto the mold surface. Their main functions include: Reducing friction: Forming a lubricating film between the casting and the mold, lowering the friction coefficient, making mold release smoother, and reducing the risk of damage. Protecting the mold: Reducing direct contact between the casting and the mold, minimizing mold wear, extending mold lifespan, and lowering production costs. Improving surface quality: Forming a uniform coating, reducing defects on the casting surface such as bubbles and cracks, and enhancing the appearance and mechanical properties of the casting.
