The term 5A refers to intelligent 5A, where BA stands for Building Automation Control System.

In previous projects, especially in general office buildings and small public buildings with low requirements, it was uncommon to connect multi-split systems to the BA system. Therefore, some people may wonder whether multi-split systems can be integrated into the BA system. The answer is definitely yes.

The main reasons for not integrating them into the BA system are as follows:

First, the building itself may not have been designed with a BA system. Multi-split systems are already a relatively energy-efficient form of air conditioning, and manufacturers typically provide their own control systems. As a result, there may not be many additional energy-saving measures to explore. If there are no specific requirements for centralized management, a BA system is generally not implemented.

Second, air conditioning equipment manufacturers have their own control systems, and the protocols are not universal. BA integration is often handled by third-party companies, which may not easily obtain open protocols, creating certain obstacles and difficulties for integrating and controlling the BA system.

However, in hotel room control systems, centralized control of multi-split systems, especially the terminal units, has become very mature.

1. The monitoring host can centrally and remotely control multiple indoor and outdoor units, enabling functions such as individual metering and individual operation time tracking. Alternatively, this control can be achieved through area controllers, with signals from the area controllers aggregated to the monitoring host via a bus.

2. Centralized Control of Terminal Units

Outdoor units usually come with their own control boxes, and manufacturers need to provide open interfaces and protocols for centralized control. Indoor units are typically controlled centrally through thermostat panels, which must be selected with communication interfaces. Electronic thermostat panels are now standard, and mechanical three-speed control panels are rarely purchased anymore.

There are many types of thermostat panels available on the market today, with increasingly advanced features. Originally capable of only controlling temperature, they can now manage refrigerant pipe switches, terminal fan switches and airflow, end-user metering, equipment operation monitoring, air outlet status monitoring, and one-device multi-control functionality.
