Rich Material Selection

• Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR): Excellent oil resistance, suitable for media such as water, seawater, mineral oil, and brine. Operating temperature range: -15°C to +130°C.
• Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (HNBR): Hydrogenated on the basis of NBR, offering better high-temperature and oil resistance. Suitable for high-temperature mineral oil, high-temperature water, and other media. Operating temperature range: -15°C to +160°C.
• Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM): Excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. Suitable for hot water, steam, acid, alkali, and other media. Operating temperature range: -25°C to +180°C.
• Fluoroelastomer (FKM): Extremely high chemical stability and high-temperature resistance, resistant to acids, alkalis, oils, and various other media. Operating temperature range: -5°C to +180°C.

Diverse Types

• Bonded Gaskets: Alfa Laval uses two-component vulcanized epoxy adhesive to bond gaskets, ensuring they are permanently and firmly fixed in the gasket groove. The gasket does not fall off when the heat exchanger is opened. Suitable for large plate heat exchangers, frequent opening, and high-pressure applications.
• Clip-On Gaskets: Clip-On gaskets are Alfa Laval's superior adhesive-free system. They connect to the plate edge via two clips, ensuring neat positioning along the gasket groove. The sealing and clip functions are separated, facilitating on-site gasket replacement and easy maintenance.
• Graphite Gaskets Alfa Laval: For example, the Compabloc+ series uses fully enclosed graphite gaskets, offering extremely high reliability. They prevent material leakage risks under pressures up to 60 bar and avoid gasket deformation due to excessive panel compression, simplifying maintenance operations.

Design Optimization Alfa Laval

• Integrated Design: Alfa Laval integrates gaskets and plates into a unified design, customizing gasket profiles, widths, thicknesses, and combinations of different polymers based on heat exchange conditions. This prevents premature leakage or damage to gaskets and plates, extends gasket life, and reduces downtime and maintenance costs.
• Dual-Seal Mechanism: Some gaskets feature a unique dual-seal mechanism design. A safety recess is provided around the sealing strip in the gap between the two seals, connecting the gap to the atmosphere. Even if the gasket fails unexpectedly, the medium will only leak into the atmosphere, preventing mixing of two media and enhancing operational safety.
