Plastic flower ring packing is a type of packing introduced by Teller A.J. of the United States in 1954, commonly referred to domestically as Taylor rings. It is constructed by interlocking numerous circular rings and has now become a serialized product with three models. The main characteristics of this packing are its high void fraction, resistance to clogging, large throughput, and low resistance. Due to its ability to retain a significant amount of liquid in its gaps, it allows for longer liquid retention time within the column, thereby increasing gas-liquid contact time and improving mass transfer efficiency. As a result, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry was the first to research and introduce plastic flower ring packing from American packing companies, designating it as a specialized packing for promotion within the metallurgical industry.
