China's civil aviation industry has been in a period of rapid development over the past 20 years, with continuous growth in air traffic volume. Most of the existing busy domestic airports were constructed relatively early. As the service life of the pavement structure increases, its performance deteriorates rapidly, with frequent damages and an increasing number of structural failures, posing an increasingly severe impact on the safe operation of airports. Therefore, the importance of airport pavement maintenance in airport management has become increasingly prominent. To ensure uninterrupted airport operations, maintenance of airport pavements is generally carried out without suspending flights, which means that the materials used for repairs must form a stable structure within a short period to meet the requirements for normal and safe aircraft operations. Since cement concrete structures still dominate airport pavement structures in China, most repair materials used at airports are primarily fast-setting cement-based materials. There are numerous cement mortar materials used for rapid airport repairs, and related research is abundant. However, the evaluation of material performance and practical effectiveness is mostly based on empirical summaries from various airports, with limited systematic research and summarization. In response to this situation, this paper selects three commonly used rapid repair materials in domestic airports. In accordance with industry standards and based on the actual usage characteristics of airports, the study primarily employs experimental research methods to investigate and verify the basic and durability properties of these three materials. Technical recommendations are also provided for the use of rapid repair materials in airport maintenance.Material Selection and Composition Analysis

A survey of busy domestic airports was conducted, and the three most commonly used rapid repair materials—A, B, and C—were selected for experimental study. The basic composition of the three materials is as follows:

1) Sand content. Sieve analysis test results indicate that Material B has a relatively high sand content, particularly with a high proportion of medium sand with a particle size of 0.3mm. Material A contains finer sand, while Material C includes coarse aggregate and fine sand. To ensure consistency in subsequent test results, the average sand content of Materials A and B was used, with sand added in corresponding proportions. Among the three materials, A and B contain sand, while C contains coarse aggregate and sand.

2) Mineral composition. After sieving out large particles of sand, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy were used to analyze their mineral and chemical compositions. The results show that two of the materials are primarily composed of Portland cement and contain a certain amount of quartz. Material A has a higher content of aluminate minerals, Material B has a higher content of silicate minerals, and Material C is MMA polymer resin-based, belonging to the category of organic materials.For airport pavement repair materials, it is essential to ensure that their basic performance indicators meet the requirements of non-stop construction and safety at airports. Additionally, from the perspectives of long-term stability and cost-effectiveness, the materials must also possess good durability. Considering the actual needs of airports, the experimental indicators for studying the performance of rapid repair materials include:

1) Basic properties:主要包括修復(fù)材料的流動性、凝結(jié)時間、保水率、抗壓強(qiáng)度和抗折強(qiáng)度。

2) Durability:主要包括耐磨性、抗凍性、收縮性和黏結(jié)強(qiáng)度。

The experimental methods for the above studies were conducted in accordance with highway and airport industry standards, as well as relevant national standards and specifications.
