Properties: An endopeptidase extracted from bovine pancreas, appearing as a brown or tan powder. Soluble in water; insoluble in ethanol, glycerol, chloroform, etc. Isoelectric point pI 10.5. Stable at pH 2–3; prone to autolysis and inactivation above pH 5; irreversibly inactivated at pH >9.0. Ca2? stabilizes enzyme activity; heavy metal ions, organophosphorus compounds, DFP, and natural trypsin inhibitors strongly inhibit its activity.

Use: For biochemical research. Specifically catalyzes the hydrolysis of peptide bonds formed by lysine and arginine carboxyl groups, suitable for protein chemistry studies.
