Brown fused alumina is produced by high-temperature smelting in an electric arc furnace using bauxite and coke as main raw materials. Its main chemical components are Al?O? and TiO?, with small amounts of SiO? and Fe?O?. It has a microhardness of HV1800-2200 and higher toughness than silicon carbide.
