A wire thread insert is a new type of internal thread fastener, precisely manufactured from high-strength, high-precision, and smooth-surfaced cold-rolled diamond-shaped stainless steel wire into a spring-like concentric body with both internal and external threads. It is primarily used to enhance and protect internal threads in low-strength materials. Its principle involves forming an elastic connection between the screw and the internal thread of the base material, eliminating thread manufacturing errors and improving connection strength.

Wire thread inserts are further divided into standard type and locking type. The locking type adds one or several locking coils to the standard type, providing a tightening and anti-loosening effect on the assembled screw. When embedded into threaded holes of low-strength engineering materials such as aluminum, magnesium alloys, cast iron, fiberglass, and plastics, wire thread inserts form high-precision internal threads that comply with international standards. They offer high connection strength, anti-vibration, anti-impact, and wear-resistant functions, as well as the ability to distribute stress and protect the base thread, significantly extending the service life of the base material.

Wire thread inserts can also serve as a repair method when the original base thread is stripped or damaged, preventing the entire base from being scrapped. They are convenient for maintenance, quick, and economical. Specialized taps and installation tools are required for installing wire thread inserts.
