I. Overview

The self-cleaning filter is a product jointly developed by our company and the China Academy of Engineering Physics. It features a rational structure, reliable performance, effective self-cleaning, and ease of maintenance and use. It serves as an upgraded replacement for traditional filters (using granular filter media) and is widely used in industries such as steel plants, metallurgy, petrochemicals, coal mining, papermaking, and power generation.

II. Structural Features

1、Overall Structure

This machine adopts a vertical cylindrical structure. The front is equipped with a differential pressure control instrument, and the top houses the backwash drive device. The cylinder is divided into upper and lower parts: the upper part installs stainless steel filter elements, while the lower part contains the sewage suction disc and discharge pipe. Turbid water enters the filter through the inlet, flows upward through the filter elements, and exits as clean water via the outlet pipe to supply users. During backwash operation, filtered debris and residues are automatically discharged outside the machine through the suction disc and discharge pipe via the drain valve. Sediments settled at the bottom of the filter are removed through the manual drain pipe.

The filter elements equipped in this machine are made of high-quality stainless steel. For filtration precision below 1.0mm, they are constructed by welding trapezoidal cross-section stainless steel wires wound around a polygonal skeleton. Each adjacent pair of wires forms a filtration gap, creating a V-shaped area facing the water flow direction to collect particles larger than the gap. The V-shaped area also provides an appropriate release angle, facilitating the smooth removal of residues during backwashing. For filtration precision above 1.0mm, various forms of filter elements can be designed and manufactured based on user water treatment quality requirements.

2、Self-Cleaning Function

This machine can use its own filtered clean water to automatically clean the filter elements. When the backwash mechanism activates, the sewage suction disc will sequentially seal the inlet of the filter elements, creating a state open to the atmosphere. At this time, pressurized water will flush the pores of the filter elements in the opposite direction of filtration, expelling debris trapped at the filter pore inlets through the sewage suction disc and discharge pipe out of the machine.

3. Uninterrupted Water Supply Function Structure

This machine can continuously supply water even during backwashing. The tank contains multiple filter elements, and since the number of filter elements far exceeds that of the sewage suction discs, the water supply through the filter during backwashing can still meet user requirements, achieving uninterrupted water supply during backwashing.

Equipped with multiple filter elements, the machine makes full use of the filtration space, significantly reducing the filter's volume. Considering the need for uninterrupted water supply and minimizing resistance loss, the effective filtration area of the filter elements inside the machine is generally 2.5 to 6.5 times the cross-sectional area of the filter inlet.
