Product Introduction:

Antifouling paint is a special coating applied to ship hulls and underwater marine structures, typically applied over the anticorrosive primer on the ship's bottom, forming the outermost layer. Its primary function is to gradually release biocides through leaching, diffusion, or hydrolysis from the paint film, preventing marine organisms from adhering to the ship's bottom or underwater structures.

There are over 18,000 species of fouling animals and more than 600 species of fouling plants in the world's oceans. When marine organisms attach to the ship's hull, they increase drag, reduce speed, raise fuel consumption, and accelerate mechanical wear. Fouling also damages the paint film, accelerating steel plate corrosion, which not only increases the frequency and duration of vessel maintenance but also reduces operational availability. For naval vessels, fouling significantly impacts speed, and if organisms attach to sonar domes, they can interfere with acoustic detection capabilities, weakening the ship's combat effectiveness.

To date, applying antifouling paint remains the most economical and effective measure to prevent marine biofouling. Therefore, antifouling coatings are essential for ship bottoms.

Main Characteristics:

Antifouling coatings should possess the following properties:

1. Prevent marine fouling organisms from adhering for a certain period;

2. Ensure stable and gradual leaching of biocides from the paint film into seawater;

3. The paint film should have a certain degree of water permeability to guarantee continuous biocide release;

4. Exhibit good adhesion and compatibility with anticorrosive primers, with the antifouling paint itself having strong intercoat adhesion and preferably slight solubility with the primer;

5. The paint film must demonstrate excellent resistance to seawater impact, remaining blister-free and non-peeling during prolonged immersion;

6. Possess varying degrees of self-polishing ability during navigation;

7. Offer good storage stability, typically for one year, without degradation in antifouling performance during storage.
